Teach your child early that he's going places....

My husband and I love to travel and also experience new cultures so when it came to prepping for Baby's nursery, I knew right away I wanted a travel theme.

I perused Easy by searching for keywords like "Travel", "World" and "Globe" and was able to find the world decal & the quilt which are my absolute favorite pieces in his room.

The giraffe was an Amazon find, while the airplane mobile is something I picked up off of a Facebook buy-sell site for $15. The picture is a travel photo of where my husband & I were married in Jamaica-- something we already had but repurposed for the baby's room.

I knew I wanted to do a gallery wall, but I quickly found this could get pretty pricey when you account for the artwork, frames, and shelf items. I lucked out and found the frames at my local At Home Store for $2-$4 a piece. I then found the city images online and had them printed via Shutterfly with one of their deals.

I also found the "Explore" sign at the At Home store. It was originally red so I had my husband paint it blue.

The shelf was an Amazon purchase. All of the items on the shelf are souvenirs that myself or my husband have picked up on our travels from Japan to Barcelona to Cinque Terre and Egypt.

The crib was a hand me down from a friend while the changing table was picked up at a local kids consignment store for $30.

The framed picture is a collection of hotel souvenirs that my husband's great aunt had collected in her travels in the 50's & 60's.

The bookshelves are actually spice racks purchased off Amazon and spray painted with paint from Michael's. The books were another Amazon find.

I wanted to add some decor that would be functional and would serve as toys when Baby was older. For this I went with the globe & plane from Amazon. The Dr. Seuss book was something my own mom had given my for my high school graduation, but went great with the theme.

The dresser is one of the highlights of the room. The dresser is a plane Ikea dresser that my husband painted with paint from Michael's. The faux leather trim came from Hobby Lobby and the fixtures were purchased as a local hardware store.

Dresser; Ikea $34.99 Paint and fixtures added

My mom made the hot air balloons with balloons purchased from Hobby Lobby.

All in all we are so happy with the nursery. Since we were thrifty with our furniture purchases, we were able to splurge on some of the key decor items which really pull the room together. This is also a great theme that works for a boy or girl!
